ABOUT US

HOGMM is a registered 501c (3) nonprofit organization with a mission to provide health education, medicine and medical needs to the less privileged with ailments in remote African villages. We provide free medical diagnostics to hundreds of villagers, administer medications through trained medical professionals and hand-out medical literature.

Heart of Gold Medical International was founded by Chidi Nwaohia. Chidi was born among those she's come to devote her later life to.

By the devine grace of God, Chidi was fortunate to practice as registered nurse for over 29 years in Nigeria and United States of America. She understood that if only she could get the medications and education to the communities, countless individuals could lead a normal life given advances in pharmaceuticals.

As the sole survivor out of 10 siblings, Chidi She never forgot what God delivered her from and has always known that God saved her for a purpose.

Chidi often taught that to whom much is given, much is expected...that God created us to love others. Love is action. Love is intentional.

The sufferings of those with epilepsy in these communities are disheartening. The communities believe epilepsy is contagious, so those infected are isolated even in their own families. They are thrown out of school, cannot learn a trade, and tragically most do not live to middle age.

Without knowledge and resources, these communities and many like them, are ill equipped to manage epilepsy and other ailments.

Chidi began sponsoring herself on multiple medical missions trips. First with a Christian organization in 2006, and again in 2008, to Central African Republic.

In 2013 an 2015, Chidi would go on a solo missions trip focused on the epileptic communities. With the support of friends, medical doctors, volunteers, the local government chairman, and mayor, care and medications were delivered to so many.

Epilepsy Treatment is life-long. The epileptic patients get their medication re-filled every three months. The medication need and supply is monitored from the U.S and more is sent as it runs out. The patients that keep up with their medication regimen have reduced seizures.

With the realization that there was still so much to be done, forming a nonprofit became necessary to raise support in order to reach more people.

In October 2016, the United States Internal Revenue Service granted Heart of Gold Medical International non profit status.

We thank God and continue to pray for His ultimate healing and provision.
